After decades of mostly mild winters, Holland has been blessed with a few frosty a snowy winters in a row, even allowing for the famed Dutch long distance open air skating tours, many of which can be made on the lakes and canals in the direct vicinity of Hilversum (Loosdrecht, Kortenhoef, Ankeveen, etc.).  As you can see,  Zeverijn Park can be quite charming or even breath-taking after a fresh brush of snow. The mall hills at the far end (mostly man made, though also partly the far-most spurs of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug) are just high enough for children to sleigh down their slopes. However, snowy conditions usually only last from a few days to a few weeks in the Netherlands.
